INSPECT Check     
1 Carry out preconditions and tests for vehicle level measurement   AR40.00-P-0202A 
2 Clean measuring ranges (a, b) IMPORTANT This prevents any measuring errors.  
3 Mount measuring sensor (086a) to center of spring control arm (1) then read off the vehicle level on the inclinometer (086) NOTES The measurement sensor connecting cable (086b) of the measurement sensor (086a) must face towards the vehicle center. Otherwise the measurement will be inaccurate.
IMPORTANT Position measuring sensor (086a), as shown, in the measuring range (a), vehicle level at:
  • Measure measuring point 1 (left front) and
  • Measuring point 2 (right front).

Save measured values.

4 Mount measuring sensor (086a) on the center of the rear axle shaft (2) and read off vehicle level on inclinometer (086) NOTES The measurement sensor connecting cable (086b) of the measurement sensor (086a) must face towards the vehicle center. Otherwise the measurement will be inaccurate.
IMPORTANT Position measuring sensor (086a), as shown, in the measuring range (b) and measure vehicle level at:
  • measuring point 3 (left rear) and
  • measuring point 4 (right rear).

Save measured values.

5 Check maximum permissible difference in vehicle level between left and right side of vehicle at front axle IMPORTANT The specified test tolerance applies only when checking the vehicle level but not for calibration.

6 Check maximum permissible difference in vehicle level between left and right side of vehicle at rear axle IMPORTANT The specified test tolerance applies only when checking the vehicle level but not for calibration.  
*BE40.20-P-1002-03GA 
  Adjust     
7 Calibrate vehicle level using diagnostic system MODEL 205
with CODE 489 (AIRMATIC (air suspension with level adjustment and adaptive damping system (ADS)))
When the vehicle level is outside the test tolerance.		  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
    IMPORTANT Possible remedies when the vehicle level is not OK after calibration:
  • Level sensor mounting is deformed.
  
8 Check headlamp adjustment Only if the vehicle level has been calibrated.
