DYNAMIC SELECT function - GF32.00-P-0002RF
Model 205 as of model year 2016 with code B59 (DYNAMIC SELECT)
Model 253 with code B59 (DYNAMIC SELECT)
View of center console in model 253 with automatic transmission and with CODE 430 (Off-road package), except hybrid vehicle
DYNAMIC SELECT function (except AMG vehicles)
The DYNAMIC SELECT function integrates essential vehicle systems which determine the handling characteristics. This affects the electric steering, AIRMATIC (in model 205 with CODE 489 (AIRMATIC)), AIR BODY CONTROL (in model 253 with CODE 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL)), ECO start/stop function, climate control and the drivetrain of the vehicle. The speed dependent-support of the steering, the automatic transmission shift points and the accelerator pedal curve are influenced here, among others.
The following transmission modes are available:
- ECO
- Comfort
- Sport
- SPORT PLUS
- Individual
Via the DYNAMIC SELECT switch (with automatic transmission) or the DYNAMIC SELECT switch (N72/5s6) (with manual transmission) the driver can choose between the different preconfigured transmission modes and an "individual transmission mode". The driver chooses the required transmission mode by operating the DYNAMIC SELECT switch and receives operation feedback in the instrument cluster (A1). The set transmission mode is shown as a status icon in the instrument cluster. The current settings are also briefly shown on the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8). The head unit (A26/17) generates the signal for display in the Audio/COMAND display and sends a low voltage differential signal (LVDS).
The signal of the DYNAMIC SELECT switch is read in by the left lower control panel (with automatic transmission) or by the right lower control panel (N72/5) (with manual transmission). The lower control panel at the left or the lower control panel at the right sends the signal over the LCP LIN (LIN A3), Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9), telematics CAN (CAN A), head unit, user interface CAN (CAN HMI), electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) and the chassis FlexRay (Flex E) to the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4).
The Electronic Stability Program control unit puts the information for the chosen transmission mode on the chassis FlexRay. The control units relevant for the new transmission mode receive the information and switch to the stored parameters for the particular transmission mode. The preconfigured parameters are listed in the following table.
| ECO | Comfort | Sport | SPORT PLUS | Individual | Remarks | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steering | Comfort | Comfort | Sport | Sport | Comfort/Sport | The level of support for the electric power steering is reduced in the Sport and Sport Plus transmission mode. |
| Drive | ECO | Comfort | Sport | SPORT PLUS | Eco/Comfort/Sport/Sport Plus/M | On model 205 (with automatic transmission, except AMG vehicles), the manual shifting mode is included in the individual transmission mode. |

| Climate control | ECO | Comfort | Comfort | Comfort | Eco/Comfort | |
| ECO Assistant | On | Off | Off | Off | On/Off | Valid for plug-in hybrid |
When the transmission mode is changed, the appropriate settings valid for the selected transmission mode are made.
As the ESP® OFF function is not part of DYNAMIC SELECT, the setting is not affected by a change of transmission mode.
When the vehicle is parked, the transmission mode is stored for up to 4 hours (Last Mode). After 4 hours, the Comfort transmission mode is automatically set.
The Last Mode function is not supported in vehicles with code 494 (USA version).
DYNAMIC SELECT function (with AMG vehicles)
The DYNAMIC SELECT function integrates essential vehicle systems which determine the handling characteristics. This affects the vehicle's electric steering, adaptive damping system, ECO start/stop function, the drivetrain, the transmission mode, the ESP®, climate control and the exhaust system (with CODE P30 (AMG Performance Package)). The speed dependent-support of the steering, the automatic transmission shift points and the accelerator pedal curve are influenced here, among others.
The following transmission modes are available:
- Comfort
- Sport
- SPORT PLUS
- Individual
- Race
The DYNAMIC SELECT switch allows the driver to choose between an "Individual" transmission mode and various preconfigured transmission modes. The driver chooses his/her transmission mode by operating the DYNAMIC SELECT switch and receives operation feedback in the instrument cluster. The set transmission mode is shown as a status icon in the instrument cluster. The current settings in the Audio/COMAND display are also briefly shown. The head unit generates the signal for display in the Audio/COMAND display and sends a low voltage differential signal.
The signal of the DYNAMIC SELECT switch is read in by the left lower control panel. The left lower control panel sends the signal over the lower control panel LIN, the Audio/COMAND control panel, the head unit, the user interface CAN, the electronic ignition lock control unit and the chassis FlexRay to the Electronic Stability Program control unit. The Electronic Stability Program control unit puts the information for the chosen transmission mode on the chassis FlexRay. The control units relevant for the new transmission mode receive the information and switch to the stored parameters for the particular transmission mode. The preconfigured parameters are listed in the following table.

When the transmission mode is changed, the appropriate settings valid for the selected transmission mode are made.
As the ESP® OFF function is not part of the DYNAMIC SELECT transmission modes, the setting is not affected by a change of transmission mode.
When the vehicle is parked, the transmission mode is stored for up to 4 hours (Last Mode). After 4 hours, the Comfort transmission mode is automatically set.
The Last Mode function is not supported in vehicles with code 494 (USA version).
"Off-road" programs (in model 253 with code (430) Off-road package)
In vehicles with code 430 (Off-road package), up to five preconfigured off-road programs can be selected. The Off-road menu is called up in the Audio/COMAND display by pressing the On-road/Off-road menu button. The required off-road program can then be selected using the Audio/COMAND controller. The selected off-road program is displayed as a status icon in the instrument cluster.
The following off-road programs are available:
- Slippery conditions
- OFF-ROAD
- Incline
- Trailer
- Rocking vehicle free (with CODE 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL))
The signals from the On-road/Off-road menu button are read in by the off-road operating panel. The off-road operating panel sends the button status over the lower control panel LIN, the Audio/COMAND control panel, the telematics CAN, the head unit, the user interface CAN, the electronic ignition lock control unit and the chassis FlexRay to the Electronic Stability Program control unit. The Electronic Stability Program control unit puts the information on the chassis FlexRay.
