Remove/install torque strut at front axle - AR33.15-P-0160LW

IMPORTANT Notes on repair work on suspension components   AH00.00-P-0100-01A
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove center and front engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105LW
2 Remove left or right front wheel-and-tire assembly   AR40.10-P-1101A
3 Detach left front axle RPM sensor (L6/1) or right front axle RPM sensor (L6/2) and place to one side with bracket and line Model 205
except code M005 (4MATIC)

4 Unscrew nut (2) and detach tie rod (3) on steering knuckle (4) NOTES
The ball head must be counterheld and an impact wrench/driver must not be used. Otherwise the ball head or steering knuckle (4) may be damaged.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Self-locking nut, tie rod to steering knuckle *BA46.40-P-1001-01P 
5 Unscrew nut (5) NOTES
The ball head must be counterheld and an impact wrench/driver must not be used. Otherwise the ball head or steering knuckle (4) may be damaged.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Tighten nut (5) with SPECIAL TOOL a 24 mm box wrench bit and SPECIAL TOOL four-point drive.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, strut rod to steering knuckle *BA33.20-P-1003-01U

6 Loosen steering wiring harness bracket (6) on the front axle carrier (7) Model 205
except code M005 (4MATIC)
When removing the right strut rod (1).
 
7 Remove AIRmatic compressor When removing the left strut rod (1).

8 Detach torque strut (1) from front axle carrier (7) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, strut rod to front axle carrier *BA33.20-P-1004-01U 
INSPECT Check     
9 Check seal bellows and ball head of strut rod (1) for damage If damaged:

Replace strut rod (1).
 
10 Check elastomer bearing in strut rod (1) for damage and variant IMPORTANT The elastomer bearing variants are shown in the reference specification.
In the event of damage, if a neutral (genuine) elastomer bearing is installed.

Replace strut rod (1).
In the event of damage, if an elastomer bearing is installed for caster correction.

Replace elastomer bearing of strut rod (1).

11 Install in the reverse order
