General telematics services function requirements
- Circuit 30g ON
- Transport mode not active
- The vehicle owner is registered and authorized at the Service Center.
- No prioritized service (emergency call (manual or automatic), MB information call, breakdown assistance) is activated.
General telematics services
For convenient mobility planning in hybrid vehicles, the customer has the option of interrogating vehicle data and making settings via a vehicle-specific website, the "Vehicle Homepage". Position-dependent control and monitoring of the charging processes in particular are made possible by this. The "Vehicle Homepage" is made available by the service provider. The telematics services that can be performed via the "Vehicle Homepage" include the following functions, for example:
- Display of the battery charge level and the estimated battery charging duration
- Configuration and illustration of the pre-entry climate control
- Illustration of the estimated range
- Illustration of driving profiles (evaluations and statistics)
A gradual expansion of the functional scope is planned.
The processing of the telematics services includes the following procedures:
- Communication between vehicle and "Vehicle Homepage" via service provider
- CAN communication between the emergency call system control unit or the telematics services communications module and additional vehicle components
Communication between vehicle and "Vehicle Homepage" via service provider
As soon as the user has successfully called up the "Vehicle Homepage", he/she can exchange data with the vehicle (e.g. call up information and make settings) via a mobile radio connection secured by the service provider.
On vehicles with code 348 (Emergency call/assist system), the signals are received and sent as follows:
Left telephone antenna and right telephone antenna →
Telephone antenna splitter →
Emergency call system control unit
On vehicles with code B57 (COM module battery level), the signals are received and sent as follows:
Communications module/stationary heater antenna →
Communications module/stationary heater antenna splitter (with code B24 (Remote control for stationary heater)) →
Telematics services communication module
In the event of a failure of or with poor reception by the left telephone antenna (with CODE 348 (Emergency call/assist system)) and right telephone antenna (with CODE 348 (Emergency call/assist system)) (e.g. defect due to rollover), the emergency call system control unit automatically transmits and receives the signals via emergency call system antenna (with CODE 348 (Emergency call/assist system)).
CAN communication between the emergency call system control unit or the telematics services communications module and additional vehicle components
During data exchange concerning the charging processes, the emergency call system control unit (with code 348 (Emergency call/assist system)) or the telematics services communications module (with code B57 (COM MODULE battery level)) communicates via the hybrid CAN with the powertrain control unit.
During pre-entry climate control, the emergency call system control unit (with code 348 (Emergency call/assist system)) or the telematics services communications module (with code B57 (COM MODULE battery level)) exchanges data as follows:
Hybrid CAN →
Powertrain control unit →
Chassis FlexRay →
Electronic ignition lock control unit →
Interior CAN →
Climate control control unit
The settings made via the "Vehicle Homepage" are sent as follows:
Emergency call system control unit (with code 348 (Emergency call/assist system)) or telematics services communications module (with code B57 (COM MODULE battery level)) →
Hybrid CAN →
Powertrain control unit →
Chassis FlexRay →
Electronic ignition lock control unit →
User interface CAN →
