The tuner unit is a MOST participant and it communicates over this with the head unit (A26/17).
Direct lines
With model 205.0/1, the tuner unit receives the following signals via direct lines:
- Power supply through circuit 31 and circuit 30 g
- Electronic wake-up signal for MOST
- SDAR antenna (A2/105) for satellite digital audio radio (SDAR) signals (with CODE 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio))
- FM 2 and DAB band III antenna amplifier (A2/108), for DAB band III signals (with CODE 537 (Digital radio (DAB)))
- TV 1 and DAB band III antenna amplifier (A94/5), for DAB band III signals (with code 537 (Digital radio (DAB))) or TV 1 signals (with code 865 (TV tuner))
- TV 2 antenna amplifier (A94/6), for TV-2 signals (with CODE 865 (TV tuner))
- TV 3 antenna amplifier (A94/7), for TV-3 signals (with CODE 865 (TV tuner))

Processing signals
- With CODE 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio), the tuner unit decodes and amplifies the satellite signals (Time For Division Multiplex (TDM)) and the terrestrial signals (Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (COFDM)) into Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) signals.
- With CODE 537 (Digital radio (DAB)), the tuner unit decodes the DAB band III signals into PCM signals.
- With CODE 865 (TV tuner), the tuner unit decodes and demodulates the TV signals and separates them into video and audio signals.
- With CODE 865 (TV tuner) and CODE 537 (Digital radio (DAB)), the tuner unit separates the DAB band III signals from the TV signals on the TV 1 antenna input

The tuner unit is a MOST participant and it communicates over this with the head unit. The audio signals are sent to the head unit or to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) (with CODE 810 (Sound system)).
Direct lines
In model 205.0/1, the tuner unit sends the following signals via a direct line:
- Supply voltage to FM 2 and DAB band III antenna amplifier (with CODE 537 (Digital radio (DAB)))
- Supply voltage to TV 1 and DAB band III antenna amplifier (with CODE 537 (Digital radio (DAB)) or with CODE 865 (TV tuner))
- Supply voltage to TV 2 antenna amplifier (with CODE 865 (TV tuner))
- Supply voltage to TV 3 antenna amplifier (with CODE 865 (TV tuner))
- Video signals over a low voltage differential signal (LVDS) line to the head unit (with CODE 865 (TV tuner))
On model 205.2 and on model 253, the tuner unit sends the following signals via a direct line:
- Supply voltage to FM 2, DAB and TV 1 antenna amplifier (with CODE 537 (Digital radio (DAB)) or with CODE 865 (TV tuner))
- Supply voltage to TV 2 and DAB band III antenna amplifier (with CODE 537 (Digital radio (DAB)) or with CODE 865 (TV tuner)), on vehicles with CODE 537 (Digital radio (DAB)) and CODE 865 (TV tuner) via the TV and DAB antenna splitter
- Supply voltage to TV 3 antenna amplifier (with CODE 865 (TV tuner))
- Video signals via an LVDS line to the head unit (with CODE 865 (TV tuner))
Body
With CODE 498 (Japan version) the tuner unit is delivered with a "B-CAS card". The "B-CAS card" is designed as a subscriber identification module (SIM) card and is inserted in the SIM card reader. The SIM card reader is covered with a seal.
