Adjust rear door - AR72.12-P-0650LW

DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
INSPECT Check     
1 Check gap dimensions at rear door (1) Model 205.0/1/2

NOTES
Always perform adjustment work on uneven gap dimensions on upper and lower hinge leaves.
Otherwise tension and damage can occur.
IMPORTANT Dimensions "H, I, J".

REMOVING Remove     
2 Move front seat to end position toward front When performing adjustment work on hinge halves on B-pillar (6).  
3 Detach upper paneling (7) and remove from working area When performing adjustment work on hinge halves on B-pillar (6).

IMPORTANT Do not remove belt end fitting.  
4 Remove bottom paneling (8) When performing adjustment work on hinge halves on B-pillar (6).

5 Detach seat belt retractor (9) or left front reversible emergency tensioning retractor (A76) or right front reversible emergency tensioning retractor (A76/1) and remove from working area When performing adjustment work on hinge halves on B-pillar (6).

IMPORTANT Do not disconnect electrical connectors.  
  Adjust     
6 Mark position of lock striker (10) in relation to C-pillar    
7 Unscrew bolts (11) and remove locking eye (10)    
8 Detach nuts (4) and nuts (5) on B-pillar (6) alternately When performing adjustment work on hinge halves on B-pillar (6).
NOTES
During adjustment ensure that only nuts (4) or nuts (5) are loosened.
Otherwise the paint can be damaged when the rear door (1) comes into contact with other components.
 
9 Adjust gap dimensions by moving rear door (1) When performing adjustment work on hinge halves on B-pillar (6).

Completely move rear door (1).
Otherwise the paint can be damaged when the front door (1) comes into contact with other components.

10 Tighten nuts (4) and nuts (5) on B-pillar (6) When performing adjustment work on hinge halves on B-pillar (6).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, hinge to B-pillar *BA72.12-P-1002-01R 
11 Detach bolts (12) and bolts (13) on rear door (1) alternately When performing adjustment work on hinge halves on rear door (1).
NOTES
During adjustment ensure that only bolts (12) or bolts (13) are loosened.
Otherwise the paint can be damaged when the front door (1) comes into contact with other components.
 
12 Adjust transition between front door and rear door (1) and adjust door position in vertical direction by moving rear door (1) When performing adjustment work on hinge halves on rear door (1).
IMPORTANT The contour of the rear door (1) must align with the contour of the rear door or project by a maximum of 1 mm.
 
13 Tighten bolts (12) and bolts (13) on rear door (1) When performing adjustment work on hinge halves on rear door (1).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, hinge to rear door *BA72.12-P-1001-01R 
14 Position lock striker (10) on C-pillar and screw in bolts (11) to stop IMPORTANT It should still be possible to adjust the lock striker (10).  
15 Adjust transition between rear door (1) and C-pillar by moving lock striker (10) IMPORTANT The contour of the rear door (1) must align with the contour of the C-pillar or project by a maximum of 1 mm.  
16 Tighten bolts (11) for lock striker (10) on C-pillar TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, lock striker to C-pillar *BA72.12-P-1004-01R 
INSTALLING Install     
17 Repair paint damage on screw heads (12, 13) When performing adjustment work on hinge halves on rear door (1).  
DANGER Risk of explosion and poisoning  caused by solvent vapors and gasses. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes when working with anticorrosion agents Never spray corrosion protection on flames or hot, glowing objects and keep them well away from all potential sources of ignition. Use them only in well-ventilated rooms; wear respiratory protection. AS97.00-Z-0001-01A
18 Protect rear door (1) or B-pillar (6) against corrosion in area of both hinges (2, 3) Wax for engine compartment (400 ml spray can) *BR00.45-Z-1018-05A 
19 Install seat belt retractor (9) or left front reversible emergency tensioning retractor (A76) or right front reversible emergency tensioning retractor (A76/1) When performing adjustment work on hinge halves on B-pillar (6).

20 Install bottom paneling (8) When performing adjustment work on hinge halves on B-pillar (6).

21 Fasten top paneling (7) When performing adjustment work on hinge halves on B-pillar (6).

22 Move back front seat If adjustment work is performed over the hinge leaves on the B-pillar (6).
