REMOVING Remove     
1 Move front passenger seat toward rear    
2 Remove radio    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR82.60-P-7502NKB 
    IMPORTANT The removed radio is no longer required.  
3 Remove 14.7 cm Audio/COMAND display (A40/8)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR82.60-P-7722NKB 
    IMPORTANT The 14.7 cm Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) is no longer required.  
4 Remove instrument cluster Vehicles except CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) and except CODE 509 (Navigation box)

5 Remove glove compartment

6 Remove bracket for navigation module (A2/30-1) and remove navigation module from glove compartment Vehicles with CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) or with CODE 509 (Navigation box)
IMPORTANT The cradle for the navigation module (A2/30-1) and the navigation module are no longer required, they are to be handed over to the customer.
 
INSTALLING Install     
7.1 Route the Global Positioning System (GPS) antenna line, which was connected to the navigation module bracket (A2/30-1) at the antenna lines slot (C) (arrow), into the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) recess Vehicles with CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) or with CODE 509 (Navigation box)
IMPORTANT The 2-pin connector of the antenna lines must be disassembled and the Traffic Message Channel (TMC) antenna line must be strapped down together with the other wiring harnesses of the bracket for navigation module (A2/30-1). The openings in the glove compartment must be closed off.
 
7.2 Retrofit GPS antenna Vehicles except CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) and except CODE 509 (Navigation box)

8 Retrofit COMAND fan motor (M4/13)   AN82.85-P-0005-01NKB
9 Retrofit electrical wiring harness for COMAND fan motor (2)   AN82.85-P-0005-02NKB
10 Install 17.8 cm Audio/COMAND display (A40/8)

11 Install instrument cluster Vehicles except CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) and except CODE 509 (Navigation box)

12 Install COMAND controller unit (A40/3)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR82.60-P-7502NKB 
    IMPORTANT Vehicles with CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) or with CODE 509 (Navigation box)
The GPS antenna line, which was connected to the navigation module bracket (A2/30-1) (arrow), is connected to the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
IMPORTANT Vehicles except CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation) and except CODE 509 (Navigation box)
The white 1-pin connector of the retrofitted GPS antenna must be connected to the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
 
13 Install remaining parts    
  Update Vehicle Documentation (VeDoc)     
14 Delete special equipment in on-line vehicle data card Vehicles with CODE 510 (Audio 20 with CD changer)
IMPORTANT Code 510 (Audio 20 with CD changer)
 
15 Delete special equipment in on-line vehicle data card Vehicles with CODE 523 (MB Audio 20 radio)
IMPORTANT CODE 523 (MB Audio 20 radio)
 
16 Delete special equipment in on-line vehicle data card Vehicles with CODE 508 (Navigation box preinstallation)
IMPORTANT CODE 508 (Navigation module preinstallation)
 
17 Delete special equipment in on-line vehicle data card Vehicles with CODE 509 (Navigation box)
IMPORTANT Code 509 (Navigation module)
 
18 Enter special equipment in on-line vehicle data card IMPORTANT CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))  
19 Attach "COMAND APS retrofitted in accordance with AN82.85-P-0006NKB " note under field organization texts to design group 82    
20 Connect diagnostic system and select vehicle via the vehicle identification number (VIN)

21 Carry out variant coding using software calibration number (SCN) IMPORTANT "Instrument cluster"  
22 Carry out variant coding using software calibration number (SCN) Vehicles with CODE 218 (reversing camera)
IMPORTANT "Reversing camera"
 
23 Disconnect diagnostic system    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
INSPECT Check     
24 Perform function test IMPORTANT See operator's manual for COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
