Remove/Install TELMA Retarder - Ar43.40-D-1000C

	Remove/install
1	Disconnect ground lead from battery		AR54.10-D-0003SD
2	Lift/jack up vehicle		AR00.60-D-1000H
3	Detach drive shafts (1, 2) from retarder (L1) and fasten in place using cable ties	Mark installation position of front propeller shaft (2) relative to rear drive shaft (1) and retarder (L1). The universal joints of the drive shafts (1, 2) must not be offset to each other, but rather they must be synchronously installed. install new nuts.

	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts		AH00.00-N-0001-01A
4	Detach and expose ground lines (3) of retarder (L1)		*BA43.40-N-1007-01C
5	Detach cable tie from protective cap (4)
6	Remove protective cap (4)
7	Unscrew nuts (9) and remove covering (10)		*BA43.40-N-1005-01C
8	Detach and expose electrical lines (5, 6, 7) from retarder (L1)	Observe identification on electrical lines (5, 6, 7).

9	Support retarder (L1) and secure using a tensioning strap	Transmission jack 0.5 t
10	Remove nuts (8) and lower retarder (L1)	Counterhold bolts. Replace bolts and nuts (8). Observe installation position of spring washers.

11	Lift retarder (L1) down from transmission plate using suitable lifting device	Only when replacing retarder (L1).
12	Install in the reverse order
