Check Power Consumption Of TELMA Retarder - Ar43.40-D-1050-02C

TEST VALUES FOR RETARDER (ELECTRIC)

BE43.40-N-1002-01C Current per circuit A 29 (±10%)
  1. Unscrew bolts (1) from cover (2) of retarder relay box (K1).
  2. Remove cover (2)

  3. Check condition of retarder relay box (K1) and relay (3, 4, 5) by visual inspection.

    IMPORTANT Replace in the event of a complaint on the retarder relay box (K1) or the relay (3, 4, 5), retarder relay box (K1).

  4. Visually check connection of electrical lines (11) in the retarder relay box (K1).

    IMPORTANT If necessary, repair electrical lines (11).

  5. Use digital multimeter to check voltage supply of electrical line (7) and ground supply for ground lines (9).

    IMPORTANT If necessary, repair electrical lines (7) or ground lines (9).

  6. Visually check connection of electrical lines (6) in the retarder relay box (K1).

    IMPORTANT If necessary, repair electrical lines (6).

  7. Visually check connection of retarder connector (X97).

    IMPORTANT If necessary, repair or replace retarder connector (X97).

  8. Visually check fuses (12) on relay (3, 4, 5).

    IMPORTANT If necessary, replace defective fuse (12), a spare fuse (13) is installed on the relay (3).

  9. Pull fuse holder (14) under covering (17).
  10. Detach cap (15) from fuse holder (14) and visually check fuse (16).

    IMPORTANT Replace fuse (16) when damaged.

  11. Push cap (15) onto fuse holder (14) and slide fuse holder (14) under the covering (17).

  12. Expose electrical wiring harness (18) to retarder (L1)
  13. Clip current clamp (20) onto electrical wiring harness (18).

  14. Press buttons on relay (3, 4, 5) in the retarder relay box (K1) one after the other and read off measurements on current clamp (20) then note down.

    IMPORTANT The measurement values must be in tolerance.

    If one of the measurement values is out of tolerance, the retarder (L1) has to be replaced.

  15. Mount cover (2).

    IMPORTANT Check seal is correctly seated in the cover (2).

  16. Tighten bolts (1) on cover (2) of retarder relay box (K1).
