Install B-Pillar Reinforcement - SM63.20-D-0009-02A

Model 906.1 

1. Clean bonding surfaces in the cross-hatched areas on the B-pillar panel and on the B-pillar reinforcement (1) using a cloth from the bonding kit.

   Clean bonding surfaces in one direction only.

2. Sand bonding surface in cross-hatched area on B-pillar reinforcement (1).

   Use a 60 grit sanding pad.

3. Sand bonding surface in cross-hatched area on B-pillar panel.

   Use a 60 grit sanding pad.

4. Again clean bonding surfaces in the cross-hatched areas on the B-pillar panel and on the B-pillar reinforcement (1) using a new cloth from the bonding kit.

   Clean bonding surfaces in one direction only.

5. Apply adhesive in cross-hatched area on B-pillar reinforcement (1) and spread.

   Use a brush with plastic bristles.

   Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.

   For reasons of clarity, the B-pillar is shown without the inner panel.

6. Position B-pillar reinforcement in installation position.
7. Fasten B-pillar reinforcement with bolts (2).

   The B-pillar reinforcement must lie on the B-pillar panel without gaps.

8. Crack in B-pillar panel (area A).

   If a crack is present.

9. Apply additional adhesive to the edges of the B-pillar reinforcement.

   Use a brush with plastic bristles.

   Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.

   The rest of the installation procedure can only be performed when the adhesive has completely cured.

10. Unscrew bolts (2).
11. Close holes in B-pillar panel with adhesive and spread adhesive.

    Use a brush with plastic bristles.

    Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.

    The rest of the installation procedure can only be performed when the adhesive has completely cured.

12. Sand repair point flat.
13. Restore surface on B-pillar panel using basic putty.

    Observe manufacturer's specifications for the drying and processing time of the basic putty.
