Model 906 The battery must be disconnected for the tests.
Otherwise the battery could be damaged.

Always perform the test with the battery installed and connected. Do not connect the battery tester/test equipment (1) to the jump start or charging terminal point; always connect it directly to the battery.
Test prerequisites:
- Battery tester/test equipment (1) with software release 2.0
- Ignition key not in ignition lock
- Rotary light switch in position "0"
- Radio Off
- Good contact of battery tester/test equipment (1) to battery
All test steps and entries must be conducted painstakingly. Otherwise the test result will be falsified.
If the message "Surface voltage" is displayed during the test, the battery tester/test equipment (1) has detected that the battery voltage is apparently too high. This increased voltage can be reduced as follows:
- Battery installed: Reduce the increased voltage as per the specifications of the battery tester/test equipment (1) (e.g. switch on the driving lights).
- Battery removed: Reduce increased voltage as described in the "Reduce increased voltage as per charging process" document.
The test procedure for van/truck is shown in the following as an example.
- Connect battery tester (1) to battery.

|
- Follow the menu and select according to the situation:
- "in vehicle" (battery connected to on-board electrical system)
- "not in vehicle" (battery disconnected from on-board electrical system or removed)
- Confirm selection with "Enter".

|
- Follow the menu and select according to the situation:
- "12-114 AH" (battery capacity 12 to 114 Ah)
- "115 AH >" (battery capacity ≥ 115 Ah)
- Confirm selection with "Enter".

|
- Follow menu and select battery type:
- "Normal"
- "VRLA" (battery label corresponds to absorbent glass mat battery)
Menu selection appears with selection: "Battery capacity 12-114 Ah"
- Confirm selection with "Enter".

|
- Follow menu selection and select the number of batteries:
Menu selection appears with selection: "Battery capacity ≥ 115 Ah" and "Battery(-ies) in vehicle".
- Confirm selection with "Enter".

|
- Follow menu selection and select type of test:
- "Individual"
- "Generation of batt." (generation of battery pairs)
Menu selection appears with selection: "Battery capacity ≥ 115 Ah" and "Battery(-ies) not in vehicle".
- Confirm selection with "Enter".

|
- Follow the menu selection and select the test standard for the cold cranking amps.
The test standard (e.g.: "EN", "DIN", "SAE", "IEC", "JIS", "CCA") is printed on behind the specification of the cold cranking amps. If the test standard imprint is not present, select the European standard (EN) for the cold cranking amps.
Example: 12 V 100 Ah 760 A
→ Select "EN".
- Confirm selection with "Enter".

|
- Read off cold cranking amps and enter in battery tester/test equipment (1).
Example: 12 V 100 Ah 760 A
→ Cold cranking amps 760 A
If the battery tester/test equipment detects so-called "system noise", check whether all consumers are switched off and wait (approx. 2 min) until the no-load current is minimized and the available bus systems are switched off.
- Confirm input with "Enter".
The battery test starts after confirmation of the cold cranking amps entry. The test result or a message appears after approx. 15 seconds. Proceed accordingly in the event of a message.

|
- Follow the menu and select test mode:
- "Passenger car" (also valid for vans/trucks)
- "Taxi"
Menu selection appears with the message: "Vehicle model".
- Confirm selection with "Enter".

|
- Follow the menu and select test mode:
- "above 0 °C"
- "below 0 °C"
Menu selection appears with the message: Temperature "above 0 °C"/"below 0 °C".
- Confirm selection with "Enter".
If this message appears, the battery condition is checked again.

|
- Follow the menu and select test mode:
- "Before charging"
- "After charging"
Menu selection appears with the message: "Before charging"/"After charging".
- Confirm selection with "Enter".

|
- Perform additional menu-assisted functions (e.g. "Starting engine several times" and "Switching in consumers").
Only in "Taxi" test mode if displayed in menu.
- Read off test code with "Enter" and continue accordingly:
"Battery good"
No further measures required.
"Charge and test"
Completely charge battery and test again (battery voltage > 12.4 V).
"Replace battery"
Replace the battery if this message appears.
- Print out test code.
File the printout in a tamperproof manner.
