Replace radial sealing rings on side of rear axle center assembly - AR35.31-P-0545RKC

MODEL 231 with ENGINE 279

NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
NOTES Notes on repair work on suspension components   AH00.00-P-0100-01A
IMPORTANT Notes on sensor system for trunk lid opening/closing   AH80.61-P-0001-01A
REMOVING Remove     
1 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift   AR00.60-P-0100TX
2 Remove rear axle shaft (1)   AR35.30-P-0620RKC 
3 Using a suitable tool, pry the radial sealing ring (2) out of the differential (3) NOTES
Do not damage seat surface of radial sealing ring (2).
Leaks can occur otherwise.
 
INSTALLING Install     
4 Use drift (4) to press new radial sealing ring (2) into rear axle differential (3) NOTES
Check seat surface for signs of damage before inserting new radial sealing ring (2).
Leaks can occur otherwise.
IMPORTANT Coat sealing lip of new radial sealing ring (2) with hypoid gear oil.
SPECIAL TOOL Drift

5 Install new retaining ring (5) on inner splined profile of rear axle shaft (1)    
6 Install rear axle shaft (1)   AR35.30-P-0620RKC 
INSPECT Check     
7 Check oil level in rear axle differential (3) and correct if necessary   AR35.31-P-0520-03RKC
8 Check rear axle differential (3) for leaks
