REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key (A8/1) or KEYLESS-GO start/stop button (S2/3) from electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) IMPORTANT KEYLESS-GO start/stop button (S2/3) only with code (889) KEYLESS-GO.  
2 Open engine hood    
3 Remove engine air intake duct (6)    
4 Unhook line (5)    
CLEAN Clean     
5 Clean the surrounding area of the electrical connection (3) and the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) NOTES
Before opening the brake system the area around the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Only use clean, lint free rags and cleaner free of mineral oil. Do not use any compressed-air for cleaning when the brake system is open.
Otherwise even the smallest particles of dirt, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the brake system.
Assembly cleaner

6 Detach electrical connection (3) from Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) Model 231

NOTES
The work instructions for disconnecting the electrical connector (3) must be followed. Otherwise damage can be caused to the locking mechanism.
NOTES
Do not touch, deform or damage contacts of electrical connection (3) and of jack on Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4). Do not allow any foreign objects, dirt or fluids to enter the jack or the electrical connection (3).
Otherwise the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) may be damaged or may malfunction.

7 Remove screws/bolts (4) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace screws/bolts (4).
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, ESP® control unit to traction system hydraulic unit

8 Detach Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) from traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) and remove NOTES Do not touch the contact areas or sealing silicone of the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) either with your hands or with a tool.
Otherwise, the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) could get damaged.
 
9 Remove O-rings (1) of valve dome (2) by hand NOTES
Do not use a tool to remove the O-rings (1). Otherwise the traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) may be damaged.
 
CLEAN Clean     
10 Clean sealing surface on traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
11 Install in the reverse order

REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS
Perform calibration of Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) with STAR DIAGNOSIS
Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory
When replacing the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4). AD00.00-P-2000-04A
