Check wiper arms and adjust - AR82.30-P-6000GZ

MODEL 164 up to 8/24/11, 166 up to 8/24/11 

MODEL 222 except CODE 874 (MAGIC VISION CONTROL, heated)

DANGER
Replace driver side wiper arm (1) or passenger side wiper arm (2)		 Injury hazard from pinching and crushing, in extreme cases extremities can even be cut off when caught in windshield wiper mechanism. Always remove ignition key when working on windshield wiper mechanism. AS82.30-Z-0001-01A
INSPECT Check     
1 Check position of driver-side wiper arm (1) in parked position using the markings (C) (arrow) at the windshield IMPORTANT The wiper blade ends must lie on the markings (arrow C) and may not be offset by more than 10 mm upwards or downwards.
IMPORTANT Model 164 up to 8/24/11, 166 up to 8/24/11. The distance from the outer marking to the A-pillar (A) is approx. 60 mm.
IMPORTANT A huge deviation can be caused by a damaged wiper linkage, incorrect positioning of the wiper arm (1) on the linkage pins or a bent wiper arm (1).
Replace windshield wiper system.		  
If damage is present:

Replace driver side wiper arm (1) or passengerside wiper arm (2)

2 Position the driver-side wiper arm (1) manually in the reversing position IMPORTANT Model 164 up to 8/24/11, 166 up to 8/24/11. The reversing position of the driver-side wiper arm (1) corresponds to the distance between driver-side wiper blade and A-pillar (D) of approx. 30 mm.
IMPORTANT Model 222 except code 874 (MAGIC VISION CONTROL, heated)
The reversing position of the driver-side wiper arm (1) corresponds to the distance between driver-side wiper blade and A-pillar (D) of approx. 45 mm.		  
3 Remove driver side wiper blade When working on raised driver-side wiper arm (1), ensure that this does not fall onto the windshield.
Otherwise windshield will be damaged.
IMPORTANT Driver-side wiper arm (1) must not be moved.
4 Check position of passenger-side wiper arm (2) in parked position using the markings (C) (arrow) at the windshield IMPORTANT The wiper-blade end must lie on the marking (C) (arrow) and may not be offset upwards or downwards by more than 10 mm.
IMPORTANT The distance between the inner marking and the A-pillar (B) is approx. 510 mm.
IMPORTANT A huge deviation can be caused by a damaged wiper linkage, incorrect positioning of the wiper arm (2) on the linkage pins or a bent wiper arm (2).
If damage is present

Replace windshield wiper system

Replace passenger-side wiper arm (2)
Model 164 up to 8/24/11, 166 up to 8/24/11 AR82.30-P-6100GZ

5 Position passenger-side wiper arm (2) manually in the reversing position IMPORTANT The reversing position of the passenger side wiper arm (2) corresponds to the distance between passenger-side wiper blade to A-pillar (E) of approx. 460 mm.
IMPORTANT The distance between the passenger-side wiper blade and the A-pillar (E) results from the specified distance between the driver-side wiper blade and the A-pillar (D).		  
6 Remove passenger side wiper blade When working on raised passenger side wiper arm (2), ensure that this does not fall onto the windshield. Otherwise windshield will be damaged.
IMPORTANT Passenger-side wiper arm (2) must not be moved.		  
  Clean     
7 Clean wiper blade fixtures on driver-side wiper arm (1) and passenger-side wiper arm (2) using a clean cloth    
8 Cover driver-side wiper arm (1) using suitable aids (scratch protection)    
9 Measure angle of incidence of wiper arm (1) to windshield, note this down and compare test value with adjustment value   AR82.30-P-6000-01GZ
IMPORTANT Notes on wiper arm adjustment   AH82.30-P-0001-01A
NOTES When changing from reversing position to parked position, make sure that driver-side wiper arm (1) does not make direct contact with windshield.
Otherwise windshield will become scratched.

10 Cover passenger-side wiper arm (2) using suitable aids (scratch protection)    
11 Measure angle of incidence of wiper arm (2) to windshield, note this down and compare test value with adjustment value   AR82.30-P-6000-01GZ

    When changing from reversing position to parked position, make sure that passenger-side wiper arm (2) does not make direct contact with windshield. Otherwise windshield will become scratched.
