Night View Assist control unit, component description - GF54.30-P-6200GR
MODEL 166 up to model year 2016 with CODE 610 (Night View Assist)
Shown on left-hand drive vehicle, with A-pillar cover dismantled
Location
The Night View Assist control unit is located in the direction of travel at the left rear behind the A-pillar panel.
Tasks
The Night View Assist control unit does the following:
- Receive signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Transmitting signals
- Actuation of components
Receive signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Chassis CAN 2 (CAN E2)
Direct line
The Night View Assist control unit reads in the picture data from the Night View Assist camera (B84) over a direct line.
Chassis CAN 2
The following signals, among others, are read in via chassis CAN 2:
- Vehicle speed
- Data from rain/light sensor (B38/2)
- Night View Assist button (S1s9) status
- Status of exterior lights ("Low beams on or off")
- Status of left infrared light (E1e11) and right infrared light (E2e11)
- Light source detection status
- Status (operating mode) of Electronic Stability Program (ESP®)
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Transmitting signals
The initial parameters are transmitted over the following connections:
- Direct line
- Chassis CAN 2
Direct line
The Night View Assist control unit sends the picture data over direct lines (analog video interface) to the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
Chassis CAN 2
The following signals, e.g. are sent over chassis CAN 2:
- Status and system messages
- Requests to activate or deactivate the infrared lights
Actuation of components
The Night View Assist control unit uses a direct line to actuate the Night View Assist camera (switch-on pulse).
