Remove/install BAS diaphragm travel sensor - AR42.31-P-6002EH

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Switch off ignition    
2 Operate brake several times IMPORTANT In order to reduce the given vacuum in the brake booster BAS (A7/7).  
3 Open engine hood and raise to vertical position   AR88.40-P-1000EW
4 Remove expansion rivet (3)    
5 Unscrew nut (2) and remove strut (1) to the front TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, strut to suspension strut tower *BA62.30-P-1006-02G 
6 Detach rubber edge strip (5) from bulkhead (4)    
7 Remove bolt (6) and push bulkhead (4) lightly towards engine until the BAS membrane travel sensor (A7/7b1) is accessible    
8 Release and disconnect electrical connection from BAS membrane travel sensor (A7/7b1)    
9 Spread retaining ring (7) using angled scriber (8) far enough (arrow) until the BAS membrane travel sensor (A7/7b1) can be pulled out to the front INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace locking ring (7).
IMPORTANTRemoval:  Route angled scriber (8) at bottom left under the master brake cylinder (10) and position up against groove for retaining ring (7).
 
10 Pull out BAS membrane travel sensor (A77b1) NOTES Make sure that the sealing ring (9) does not drop into the BAS brake booster (A7/7). Otherwise the BAS brake booster (A77) must be replaced.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Push BAS membrane travel sensor (A7/7b1) far enough into BAS brake booster (A7/7) until the retaining ring (7) latches into place.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check sealing ring (9) for damage, replace if necessary.
 
11 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Check     
12 Start engine Operate brake several times.  
13 Turn off engine    
14 Check leaktightness of BAS membrane travel sensor (A7/7b1) IMPORTANT Air flow noises must not be audible at the BAS brake booster (A7/7).
