The telematics services communications module uses the diagnostic CAN (CAN D).

The telematics services communication module requests vehicle data via CAN and receives it.

The telematics services communication module receives position data via a universal serial bus (USB) connection from the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).

The telematics services communications module sends the vehicle and position data via direct line to the emergency call system antenna (A2/52).

The vehicle and position data is required for the real time traffic data service or the vehicle-specific homepage.

The telematics services communication module receives real time traffic data from the emergency call system antenna and forwards it via USB connection to the COMAND controller unit.
