Rear fog lamp actuation, function - GF82.10-P-3007GN

MODEL 166 as of model year 2016

MODEL 292

Function requirements, general

IMPORTANT The low beam actuation is active during the rear fog light actuation. Detailed information about low beam actuation is available in the separate "Driving lights actuation function" document.

Rear fog light actuation, general

The rear fog light actuation is used for marking the vehicle rear area during poor weather conditions.

Rear fog light actuation function sequence

The rear fog light actuation is requested by pressing the rear fog light button (S1s10) on the exterior lights switch (S1).

The SAM control unit (N10) reads in the status of the rear fog light button directly and actuates the left rear fog light (E3/1e5) in the inner left rear lamp unit (E3/1) or right rear fog light (E4/1e5) in the inner right rear lamp unit (E4/1) according to the country coding.

The active rear fog light actuation is indicated visually to the driver. To do so, the SAM control unit sends the "Rear fog light indicator lamp On" request via interior CAN (CAN B) to the instrument cluster (A1), which then actuates the rear fog light indicator lamp (A1e18). In vehicles with CODE 550 (Trailer hitch) and without CODE 460 (Canada version) and without CODE 494 (USA version), the SAM control unit sends the "Rear fog light ON" request over the interior CAN to the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1), which then actuates the rear fog light on the trailer through the trailer socket (X58) (without CODE 460 (Canada version) and without CODE 494 (USA version)) or the trailer socket, 7-pin (X58/11) (with CODE 460 (Canada version) or CODE 494 (USA version)).

The rear fog light on the vehicle is not actuated during trailer operation. For this, the trailer recognition control unit transmits the status "Trailer recognized" via interior CAN to the SAM control unit.
