Remove/install vacuum pump - AR43.05-P-1320CD

Model 172, 204, 207, 212, 218, 221 with Engine 651

Caution  Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and nondeburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

Warning  Risk of injury  Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area of mechanical components when moving components. AS00.00-Z-0009-01A
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
Warning  Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by handling hot or glowing objects. Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Perform disable for the high-voltage onboard electrical system Model 212.098/298 with engine 651 with code ME04 (Mild hybrid drive) AR54.10-P-1150EH
2 Open engine hood and raise to vertical position Model 204.0/2/9, 218, 221 with engine 651  
Model 172.4 with engine 651 AR88.40-P-1000V
Model 204.3, 207, 212 with engine 651 AR88.40-P-1000EW
3 Remove upper engine cover    
4 Remove the throttle valve actuator   AR09.41-P-1321CD
5.1 Remove bottom part of soundproofing Model 172.4, 204.0/2/3, 207, 212, 218 with engine 651

INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install the bottom section of the soundproofing only after an engine test run and leak test have been performed.

5.2 Remove lower engine compartment paneling Model 204.9, 221 with engine 651

Model 221 with engine 651 except code Z07 (Top protection)
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only install lower engine compartment lining after engine test run and leak test.

6 Remove charge air temperature sensor (B178) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing ring. AR09.41-P-2002CD
7 Remove engine charge air duct downstream of charge air cooler   AR09.41-P-8624CD
8 Release and detach vacuum line (1)    
9 Unscrew bolts (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, vacuum pump to crankcase or oil pump *BA43.05-P-1001-01J 
10 Remove vacuum pump (3) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Insert vacuum pump (3) onto shaft of oil pump (4).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install new seal (5).
 
11 Clean sealing surface The sealing surface should be free of grease and dust.
Leakage can occur otherwise.
 
12 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Check     
DANGER Risk of burn injuries  suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area. AS49.00-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
13 Perform engine test run, check engine and brake system for leaktightness and proper operation
