Remove/install oil separator - AR01.20-P-9750MTA

ENGINE 133 in MODEL 117, 156, 176

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105NKB
2 Empty low-temperature circuit   AR20.00-P-1144MTA
3 Remove exhaust intermediate pipe (1)   AR49.10-P-7100MTA
4 Remove right side shaft heat shield (3)    
5 Remove integral carrier heat shield (2)    
6 Detach oil drain (4) at crankcase INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing ring.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, bleed line for oil separator to crankcase *BA01.20-P-1004-01R 
7 Detach wide open throttle vent lines (5) at crankcase INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing ring.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, crankcase ventilation system vent line to crankcase *BA01.20-P-1005-01R 
8 Remove screw/bolts (6) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, oil separator to crankcase *BA01.20-P-1002-01R 
9 Remove air filter housing   AR09.10-P-1150MTA
10 Remove battery carrier   AR54.00-P-0002NKB
11 Remove charge air hose downstream of charge air cooler (28)   AR09.41-P-8619MTA
12 Detach vent line (30) from coolant expansion reservoir for low-temperature circuit SPECIAL TOOL Hose clamp pliers Figure
13 Remove screw/bolts (, 7) and coolant return line (8) at charge air cooler (28)   AR09.41-P-1311-01AL
14 Disconnect electrical connection at pressure sensor upstream of throttle valve (B28/6), expose electrical wiring harness and place to one side    
15 Remove coolant line (9)    
16 Detach partial load vent line (13) from oil separator (29)    
17 Disconnect purge line (10) at fuel tank ventilation and detach at charge air cooler (28) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing ring.  
18 Detach purge lines (10, 11) at throttle valve actuator (M16/6) as well as bracket (12) and remove upwards INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install new sealing rings.  
19 Disconnect electrical connection at purging pressure sensor (B4/4).    
20 Detach filler neck (14) from cylinder head cover INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace seal.
Pay attention to correct routing of vacuum hoses (15).
The vacuum line to the ATL aneroid capsule must not be unclipped at the oil filler neck bracket otherwise it must lie loosely beside.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, filler neck to cylinder head cover *BA01.20-P-1003-01R 
21 Detach purge line (16) at charge air cooler (28) and expose INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace seal.  
22 Detach wide open throttle vent line (5) from bracket (17) and expose INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace seals.  
23 Unfasten edge guard at partition wall and place to one side    
24 Remove screw/bolts (27) and remove oil separator (29) with attached vent lines (5, 18) upwards TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, oil separator to cylinder head cover *BA01.20-P-1007-01R 
25.1 Detach wide open throttle vent line (5) from oil separator (29) Engine 133 in model 117, 156, 176

IMPORTANT The wide open throttle vent line (5) and the oil separator (29) are firmly connected together over a key-lock connection. Therefore the oil separator (29) and the wide open throttle vent line (5) must be replaced after disconnection of the connection.
 
26 Install in the reverse order    
27 Read out fault memory using the diagnostic system and clear if necessary    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
28 Carry out engine test run and check engine for leaktightness while it is running
