Location

The rear control unit is located in the center under the rear bench seat.

Task

The rear control unit supplies various systems and control units with voltage via limit switches depending on the function sequence.

The rear control unit also has the following tasks:

Reading in of sensors and signals
Evaluation of input factors
Controlling functions
Actuation of components

Interior CAN

The signals are read in by the rear control unit over the interior CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.

Controlling functions

The rear control unit actuates the following functions:

Instrument panel ambiance illumination (with CODE 876 (Interior lights package))
Liftgate central locking and power closing
Seat heater in rear (with CODE 872 (Electrically heated left and right rear seats))
Opening and closing of pop-out windows (on model 166.8)
Opening and closing of rear camera cover (on model 166.8 with CODE 501 (360-degree camera))
