General note on use of 2-component acoustic filler foam following repairs - AH60.00-P-0033-01A
MODEL 117, 163, 164, 166, 168, 169, 171, 172, 176, 203, 204, 205, 207, 208, 209, 211, 212, 215, 216, 218, 219, 220, 221, 222, 230, 231, 240, 242, 245, 246, 251, 292
2KThe 2-component acoustic filler foam is only used for repairs if the standard foam parts installed in the vehicle or on the removed part are so badly damaged that they can no longer be used again when sealant is used.
2KOn completion of the repair, the 2-component acoustic filler foam is used for sealing and soundproofing in special vehicle cavities (e.g. vehicle floor, longitudinal members).
2KUse of the 2-component acoustic filler foam corresponds to the sealing and soundproofing in series production.
2KThe 2-component acoustic filler foam has been tested and approved, and it can be injected through existing holes (openings).
2KThe following requirements must be met when using 2-component acoustic filler foam:
- The surface must be protected against corrosion, i.e. with catholic immersion paint finish or paintwork structure.
- 2KThe surface must be clean, free from grease, oil, mold release agent and other substances which impair the adhesion of the 2-component acoustic filler foam. 2K Exception: At points that are not protected against corrosion (e.g. weld seam), partial preservation is necessary prior to introduction of the 2-component acoustic filler foam.
- Additional cavity preservation with wax is possible after an hour.
- Subsequent operations in the area of the foam-protected cavities which produce an increased thermal load (e.g. welding) are not permissible.
- The usability of the cavity or the vehicle must be guaranteed after foaming. In addition the foam-protected area must be investigated for distinguishing marks.
- 2KSuitable measures (e.g. masking off openings) are necessary to prevent 2-component acoustic filler foam from being discharged at visible areas following injection and subsequent hardening (expansion 100 to 200 %).
