Remove/install center console - AR68.20-P-2000US

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

1 Switch off ignition and remove ignition key    
2 Disconnect battery ground line   AR54.10-P-0003G
3 Remove cover from hand brake lever (3)   AR68.20-P-2311-01AA

4 Disconnect electrical connector from transfer case switch (S97/5)    
5 Disconnect electrical connector for ambiance illumination from wooden cover (1) Only on vehicles with code (FR1) Ambiance illumination  
6 Remove wooden cover (1)    
7 Remove cup holder (A)    
8 Remove heater nozzle in rear compartment center console (5) IMPORTANT For this purpose, carefully unlock retaining lugs (14).  
9 Remove cover (6) with socket (7) IMPORTANT Cover (6) is clipped in four places (top right and left, bottom right and left) Disconnect electrical connector from socket (7).

10 Remove cover (8) in stowage compartment    
11.1 Disconnect connector (9), pull out telephone preinstallation coupling (11), antenna connection cable (12) and connector (9) from center console (10). In vehicles up to 1.4.07
IMPORTANT Remove retaining clips (13) from antenna connection cable (12).
 
11.2 Disconnect connectors from cell phone interface contact plate, antenna cable and info key. In vehicles as of 2.4.07
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Insert connectors into center console (10).
 
12 Remove center console (10) IMPORTANT Remove fourteen bolts from center console (10).  
13 Install in the reverse order    
14 Read out fault memory and erase IMPORTANT STAR DIAGNOSIS
Stored faults which can result from cables being disconnected or from simulation during removal and installation or test work, have to be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory AD00.00-P-2000-04A
