MODEL 212 as of model year 2014 with CODE 235 (Active Park Assist)
Shown on model 212.0
Location
The parking system control unit is located under the front passenger footwell lining.
Task
The parking system control unit is responsible for the following tasks:
- Controlling functions
- Reading in of sensors and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
- Transmitting signals
Controlling functions
The parking system control unit controls the Active Parking Assist function.
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Chassis CAN 2 (CAN E2)
Direct line
The signals from the following components are read via direct lines:
- Left front outer parking system distance sensor (B8/1)
- Left front center parking system distance sensor (B8/2)
- Left front inner parking system distance sensor (B8/3)
- Right front inner parking system distance sensor (B8/4)
- Right front center parking system distance sensor (B8/5)
- Right front outer parking system distance sensor (B8/6)
- Outer right rear parking system distance sensor (B8/7)
- Inner right rear parking system distance sensor (B8/8)
- Inner left rear parking system distance sensor (B8/9)
- Outer left rear parking system distance sensor (B8/10)
- Left rear center parking system distance sensor (B8/11)
- Right rear center parking system distance sensor (B8/12)
Chassis CAN 2
The following signals are read in over chassis CAN 2:
- Vehicle speed
- Status of gear range (with transmission 722)
- Status of backup lamp switch (S16/2) (with transmission 711, 716)
- Rain/light sensor data (B38/2)
- Parking system button status (N72/1s8)
- Status of Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) (model 212 (except 212.074/075/076/092/095/098/274/275/276/292/298) except CODE 233 (DISTRONIC PLUS)) or regenerative braking system control unit (N30/6) (model 212.095/098/298) or Premium Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/7) (model 212 (except 212.095/098/298) with CODE 233 (DISTRONIC PLUS), model 212.074/075/076/092/274/275/276/292)
- Wheel speeds and wheel rotation direction
- Electric power steering torque sensor (A91b1) signal (toothed rack position)
- Circuit 15 status
- Combination switch switch position (S4)
- Left multifunction steering wheel button group signal (S110)
- Status of trailer recognition (with CODE 550 (Trailer hitch))
- Driver seat belt fastened/unfastened status
- Driver door open/closed status
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- Rear parking system warning indicator (A44/3)
- Instrument panel parking system warning indicator (A44/4)
- Parking system distance sensors
Transmitting signals
The parking system control unit transmits the following signals via chassis CAN 2:
- Request to display message or issue warning tone
- Parking system status indication request
- Electric power steering request (steering angle)
- Information on distance to obstacle (remaining distance to obstacle)
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
