Location
The Audio/COMAND display is fitted to the top center of the instrument panel.
Tasks
The Audio/COMAND display uniformly displays the user-relevant navigation, control and information windows and, depending on the equipment installed, allows video sources to be played back.
The input factors are read in and displayed via the following connections:
- Telematics CAN (CAN A)
- LVDS connection (low voltage differential signal)
- Direct line
Telematics CAN
The exchange of control data with the individual components as well as diagnosis takes place via telematics CAN.
LVDS connection (low voltage differential signal)
This standardized digital interface is used to receive picture and video information from the audio equipment.

The Audio/COMAND display has the following connections:

"Mid" variant (with CODE 510 (Audio 20 with CD changer), with CODE 523 (MB Audio 20 radio), with CODE 511 (Audio 50 APS incl. DVD changer, with CODE 525 (MB Audio 50 APS radio):

- 400X240 pixel resolution
"High" variant (with CODE 512 (COMAND APS incl. DVD changer), with CODE 526 (COMAND with single DVD drive (without navigation)), with CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)), with CODE 528 (COMAND incl. DVD changer)):
- Fixed 7 TFT color screen
- 800X480 pixel resolution
Function
The displays and menu displays are sent digitally via an LVDS line to the Audio/COMAND display. The control data (e.g. brightness, display on or off etc.) are transmitted via the telematics CAN.
