Location 

The radio with auto pilot system is integrated at the front center in the center console.

Task 

The radio with auto pilot system has the following tasks:

Operating unit for entertainment and communication systems 

The radio with auto pilot system provides the user with a structured and uniform interface for the following system components:

IMPORTANT The graphical display of the user interface is shown on the Audio/COMAND display.

Reading in of signals 

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN bus) (CAN) 

The radio with auto pilot system is a subscriber of the interior CAN (CAN B) and the telematics CAN (CAN A).

Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) 

The radio with auto pilot system receives the audio signals from the following control units via MOST:

Direct line

The integrated microprocessor evaluates the input factors.

Actuation of system components 

The system components are actuated via the following connections:

Diagnosis 

The radio with auto pilot system acts as the diagnosis interface (gateway) for all MOST subscribers.

The diagnostic communication takes place between the radio with the auto pilot system and the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) via the interior CAN. The diagnostic communication between the front SAM control unit and the diagnostic connector (X11/4) connected to the diagnosis tester is performed via diagnostic CAN (CAN D).
