The emergency call system button is covered up by a protective cover. Pressing the cover unlocks it, and it automatically opens with the aid of a spring mechanism. The emergency call system button is designed as a normally closed contact.
Location
The overhead control panel control unit is located in the front section of the headliner.
Task
The wiper/inside rearview mirror-LIN (LIN 2) node is integrated into the overhead control panel control unit. The following components are connected to this node:
- With code (249) Automatically dimming inside rearview mirror and outside mirror including folding outside mirror:
- Forward mirror dimming light sensor (A67h1)
- Rearward dimming mirror light sensor (A67h2)
- Mirror dimming (A67h3)
- Garage door opener (A67n2) (with code (231) Garage door opener or code (232) Garage door opener with frequency 284-390 MHz)
- Rain/light sensor (B38/2)
The overhead control panel control unit has the following tasks:
- Reading in of sensors and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
Direct line
The signals from the following components are read via direct lines:
- Hall sensor 1, tilting/sliding roof (M12b1)
- Hall sensor 2, tilting/sliding roof (M12b2)
- Interior temperature sensor with integrated fan (N70b1)
- Tilting/sliding roof switch
- Rear dome lamp switch
- Interior lamp automatic function switch
- Front dome lamp switch
- Left front reading lamp switch
- Right front reading lamp switch
- Interior protection button (N70s8) (with code (882) Interior monitoring (with ATA [EDW] only))
- Tow-away protection button (N70s9) (with code (882) Interior monitoring (with ATA only))
Interior CAN
The signals are read in by the overhead control panel control unit via the interior CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the corresponding components are actuated.

Components are actuated with the following connection:

- Left reading lamp (A67e1)
- Right reading lamp (A67e2)
- Left front interior lamp
- Right front interior lamp
- Left sun visor mirror lamp (E14/1) via the left front mirror lamp switch (S101)
- Right sun visor mirror lamp (E14/2) via the right front mirror lamp switch (S102)
The housing of the overhead control panel control unit also contains the following components:
