Location

The upper control panel control unit is located in the center of the instrument panel.

Task

The upper control panel control unit performs the following tasks:

Reading in of signals
Transmitting signals

Reading in of signals

The signals are read in by the upper control panel control unit through the following connection:

Instrument panel LIN (LIN 1)

Instrument panel LIN

The upper control panel control unit reads in function feedback requests over the instrument panel LIN. These are sent from the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). Feedback on the activity of the following functions is provided by the corresponding light-emitting diodes in the buttons on the upper control panel control unit's controls:

Automatic child seat recognition (as of 1.3.13)
Anti-theft alarm system (ATA) (as of 1.3.13 with code (551) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA))
Parking system (with code (220) PARKTRONIC or code (230) Exclusive Parking Assist or code (235) Active Parking Assist)
Hazard warning light system
Rear window roller sun blind (with code (540) Electric roller blind for rear-end window)
Front seat heater (with code (873) Heated left and right front seats or with code (401) Front comfort seats, incl. seat heating and seat ventilation)
Front seat ventilation (with code (401) Front comfort seats, incl. seat heating and seat ventilation)

The upper control panel control unit sends signals over the following connection:

The upper control panel control unit sends the function requests, that are triggered by pressing the following buttons, over the instrument panel LIN to the front SAM control unit:
