Steering wheel heater control unit, component description - GF54.21-P-4172FQ
MODEL 218 up to model year 2013 with CODE 443 (Steering wheel heater)
Location
The steering wheel heater control unit is located on the driver-side in the instrument panel under the steering column.
Task
The steering wheel heater control unit has the following tasks:
- Reading in of sensors and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connection:
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
Interior CAN
The following signals are read in over the interior CAN:
- Terminal 15
- Interior temperature
- Steering wheel heater requirement
- Steering wheel heater surface temperature
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN
Direct line
The steering wheel heater heating element (R22/4r1) is actuated over a direct line.
Interior CAN
The steering wheel heater control unit sends the status of the steering wheel heater over the interior CAN.
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
