Reversing camera (RFK), function - GF54.65-P-0005FQA
MODEL 218.3 up to model year 2015 with CODE 218 (Reversing camera) without CODE 498 (Japanese version)
Function requirements, general
- Terminal 15 ON
- Reversing camera function activated through the COMAND controller unit
The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of circuit 15 via the interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit.
Reversing camera, general
The reversing camera is an optical parking and maneuvering aid. Its tasks include a surrounding field recording of the rear driving area, the generation of dynamic guide lines and the sending of the image data to the COMAND controller unit.
The pictures captured by the reversing camera are processed accordingly by the reversing camera and shown in the audio/COMAND display.
Reversing camera function sequence
Engagement of gear range "R" activates the reversing camera.
The fully integrated transmission control unit sends information about the engaged gear range via the drive train CAN, CDI control unit or ME-SFI control unit, chassis CAN (up to 28.2.13) or chassis CAN 1 (as of 1.3.13), front SAM control unit and interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit. The rear SAM control unit then actuates the reversing camera via the reversing camera power supply module.
The pictures captured by the reversing camera are transmitted as CVBS signals via the reversing camera power supply module to the COMAND controller unit. The COMAND controller unit then activates the Audio/COMAND display over the telematics CAN (CAN A). The pictures captured by the reversing camera are then transmitted directly via the LVDS line to the audio/COMAND display and shown there.
