Component description for chassis gateway control unit - GF54.21-P-1010FLM
MODEL 212 as of model year 2014 with CODE 23P (Driving Assistance package Plus)
Location
The chassis gateway control unit is secured under a cover at the front of the front passenger footwell.
Task
The chassis gateway control unit is the central interface (Gateway) between the following bus systems.
- Chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1) and chassis FlexRay (Flex E)
- Chassis CAN 2 (CAN E2) and chassis FlexRay
The corresponding signal flows are described in the respective function descriptions and in the associated block diagrams or function schematics.
In addition, the chassis gateway control unit monitors the transmit readiness ("timeout error") of the control units named below using certain input signals:
- Control units connected to chassis CAN 1:
- CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine)
- ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine)
- Regenerative braking system control unit (N30/6) (model 212.095/098/298)
- Premium Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/7) (model 212 (except model 212.095/098/298))
- Electronic ignition lock control unit (N73)
- Fully integrated transmission control unit (Y3/8n4)
- Control units connected to chassis CAN 2:
- Instrument cluster (A1)
- Electrical power steering control unit (N68)
- Control units connected to chassis FlexRay:
- Stereo multifunction camera (A40/13)
- Front long-range radar sensor (B29)
- Radar sensors control unit (N62/1)
Reasons for a "time-out" fault can be, for example, interruption of the power supply of the respective control unit, a control-unit-internal reset, CAN communication faults and hardware faults.
