Notes on measuring the drive shaft articulation angle - AH41.10-P-0002-01A
MODEL 166
The measurement can be carried out with two different measuring instruments. The measuring instrument used must have a graphic black and white display, the most up-to-date software version and a memory for up to six inclination angles:
- Measuring instruments with graphic black and white display have been supplied since the end of 2003. On these units, after switching on, a Romess graphics logo appears on the display. The black and white display is larger that the old 4-line green display.
- For measuring instruments with graphic black and white display that have a memory for only four inclination angles, an upgrade kit to allow measurement of up to six inclination angles is available.
- If an older measuring instrument (with 4-line green display) or an instrument (with graphic display) with a memory for only four inclination angles is used, the inclination angle measurement must be performed using the inclination measurement function.
On vehicles which are the subject of complaint on account of driveline vibrations or roughness when accelerating, the cause may be a deviation of the inclination angle from the specified value.
The transmission mounts and exhaust system must not be stressed during the inclination angle measurement. If necessary, relieve the stress in the transmission mounts/exhaust system.
The vehicle must be on its wheels for the measurement.
