Headlight switch off delay function - GF82.10-P-2011RF

Model 205, 253

Function requirements, general

IMPORTANT The head unit sends the "Outer OFF delay" function and the "Locator lighting" function via user interface CAN (CAN HMI), electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) and interior CAN (CAN B) to the front SAM control unit (N10/6).

The ambient brightness is detected by the light sensor in the rain/light sensor with additional functions. The rain/light sensor with additional functions reads in the signals of the light sensor directly, evaluates them and transmits information about the ambient brightness (dimness level) via the rain/light sensor LIN (LIN B16) to the front SAM control unit.

The front SAM control unit reads in the status of the exterior lights switch directly.

Headlamp switch-off delay (SWA), general

The SWA is used for leaving and finding the vehicle safely in darkness.

IMPORTANT The SWA duration can be configured in the head unit between t = 0 s and 60 s in 15-second increments.

The following light functions are activated here:

The SWA function is comprised of the following subfunctions:

IMPORTANT The outer OFF delay and locator lighting functions may run in parallel. An active outer OFF delay function is not canceled by a locator lighting request and vice versa.

Function sequence for outer OFF delay function

The outer OFF delay function is activated for the configured period after the engine is switched off by the driver (change in status of circuit 15 ON to circuit 15R ON). The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of circuit 15 to the front SAM control unit over the interior CAN.

The front SAM control unit then activates the standing/parking lights actuation. At the same time, the front SAM control unit sends the request to switch on the ambient illumination via interior CAN to the following control units:

The front SAM control unit additionally sends the request to switch on the ambient illumination on vehicles with code 641 (dynamic left-hand traffic LED headlamp) or code 642 (dynamic right-hand traffic LED headlamp) via the interior CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit and periphery CAN (CAN PER) to the:

The left front door control unit actuates the left outside mirror ambient lamp (with CODE P49 (Mirror package)) and the left front door outer door handle illumination (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO)).

The right front door control unit actuates the right outside mirror ambient lamp (with CODE P49 (Mirror package)) and the right front door outer door handle illumination (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO)).

The left rear door control unit (model 205.0/1/2, 253) actuates the left rear door outer door handle illumination (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO)).

The right rear door control unit (model 205.0/1/2, 253) actuates the right rear door outer door handle illumination (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO)).

The left headlamp control unit actuates the left front ambient light (model 205) or the ambient light in the left position light, daytime running light, turn signal light and ambient light (model 253, ECE vehicles).

The right headlamp control unit actuates the right front ambient light (model 205) or the ambient light in the right position light, daytime running light, turn signal light and ambient light (model 253, ECE vehicles).

IMPORTANT The function starts again by opening a vehicle door or the trunk lid or the liftgate. If all vehicle doors are closed again, the function is restarted.

The front door control units send the status of the front doors over the interior CAN to the front SAM control unit. The rear door control units (model 205.0/1/2, 253) send the status of the rear doors over the interior CAN to the front SAM control unit. The rear SAM control unit (N10/8) sends the status of the trunk lid or liftgate over the interior CAN to the front SAM control unit.

The active SWA is interrupted by switching on circuit 15 or by triggering an anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]) alarm (with CODE 551 (Anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]))).

Function sequence for AFB

When unlocking the vehicle, the ambient illumination is switched on for a period of t = 40 s (time for the automatic relocking).

The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of the central locking via interior CAN to the front SAM control unit.

IMPORTANT The ambient lights in the front lamp units light up for a period of t = 2 s in blue before turning to white.

When turning from blue to white, on model 253 the left front position light 2 (E1e30) and right front position light 2 (E2e30) are switched on dimmed.

IMPORTANT If an engine start is detected within t = 40 s, a change is made from the locator lighting to the on/off driving lights function.
