Location

The heads-up display is located in a recess in the instrument panel and it is attached to the cockpit crossmember.

Task

The head-up display projects driver-relevant information (e.g. speed, navigation information etc.) onto the windshield and into the field of view of the driver. Only information that is redundant to the instrument cluster (A1) is shown.

The heads-up display is responsible for the following:

Reading in of sensors and signals

The heads-up display reads in the input factors over the following connections:

LVDS

The instrument cluster processes visual information to be displayed in the head-up display and transmits this via the LVDS line to the head-up display.

User interface CAN

The signals are read in by the head-up display via the user interface CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions.

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Output of signals

The signals are sent by the heads-up display over the user interface CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions.
