Location

The electronic ignition lock control unit is located on the right, next to the steering column.

Task

The electronic ignition lock control unit has the following tasks:

Central gateway (Interface between CAN and chassis FlexRay)

The processor for controlling the central gateway functions acts as the interface between the following CAN buses:

Reading in of signals

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

Direct line

The following signals are read in via a direct line:

Interior CAN

The signals are read in by the electronic ignition lock control unit via the interior CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Diagnostic CAN

The signals are read in from the electronic ignition lock control unit via diagnostic CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

User interface CAN

The signals are read in from the electronic ignition lock control unit via user interface CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Peripherals CAN

The signals are read in from the electronic ignition lock control unit via periphery CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Chassis FlexRay

The signals are read in from the electronic ignition lock control unit via chassis FlexRay. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor whereupon the relevant signals are then issued.

Output of signals

Signals are output via the following lines:

Direct line

Emergency path actuation (with transmission 722, 724, 725)

Interior CAN

The signals are transmitted to the electronic ignition lock control unit via the interior CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Diagnostic CAN

The signals are sent from the electronic ignition lock control unit via diagnostic CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

User interface CAN

The signals are sent from the electronic ignition lock control unit via user interface CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Peripherals CAN

The signals are sent from the electronic ignition lock control unit via periphery CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Chassis FlexRay

The signals are sent from the electronic ignition lock control unit via chassis FlexRay. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Power supply of transmitter key and data exchange with transmitter key

When the transmitter key is inserted into the electronic ignition lock control unit, it switches on the inductive power transmission for power supply to the transmitter key. Encrypted data is exchanged via infrared signals between the transmitter key and the electronic ignition lock control unit for identification of the transmitter key.
