Wheel sensor, component description - GF40.15-P-5126CW

Location 

The tire pressure sensors are screwed securely into each respective rim.

Design 

Each tire pressure sensor is connected by means of a mounting screw to the filling valve and together they form an assembly unit. The assembly unit is attached to the rim flange using a counter nut.

IMPORTANT The complete assembly unit has to be changed.

A tire pressure sensor consists of the following components:

Task 

The tire pressure sensor's primary task is to measure pressure/temperature. The measuring range extends from p = 0 and 5.5 bar. During a journey the tire pressure sensors transmit 6 data packages every t = 60 s. These data telegrams transmit the absolute pressure, tire pressure temperature, wheel identifier (ID) and status information (manufacturer, direction of rotation, operating mode).

The tire pressure monitor control unit receives the data telegrams and (following a teach-in phase) assigns the wheel identifiers (ID) to the wheels fitted to the vehicle.

A fault message is not displayed while the tire pressure monitor control unit is unable to recognize the vehicle's wheel identifiers (ID) during the initial startup. After a tire pressure sensor has been replaced each new tire pressure sensor undergoes teach-in and is monitored for a new wheel identifier (ID) after a. journey of approx. t = 10 min.
