Remove/install torque strut at front axle - AR33.15-P-0160RK

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
NOTES When working on the front-end assembly, be careful not to scratch, mark or notch the surfaces of aluminum parts. Otherwise the service life of the parts will be affected    
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only tighten nuts and bolts of chassis components when vehicle is in a ready-to-drive condition.    
1 Remove front wheel   AP40.10-P-4050EW
2 Remove the front and central sections of the lower engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105RK
3 Remove track rod (5) from steering knuckle (6). IMPORTANT Ball head must not turn in the steering knuckle when it is being released or tightened. Always counterhold ball head! Do not use an impact wrench/driver! AR46.40-P-0200EW
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.40-P-1001-01E 
4 Remove nut (7) from ball joint of strut rod (8) IMPORTANT Ball head must not turn in the steering knuckle when it is being released or tightened. Always counterhold ball head! Do not use an impact wrench/driver!  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA33.20-P-1003-01S 
5 Remove strut rod (8) from steering knuckle (6)    
6 Unscrew nut (3) NOTES When loosening the nut (3) the bolt (1) must not be twisted. It is essential to counterhold bolt (1). Otherwise the locating lugs for the caster adjustment in the rubber mount (2) will be sheared off when the repair kit is fitted.  
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Screw on nut (3) of bolt (1) until it abuts, however do not tighten yet so that the rubber mount (2) of the strut rod (8) can twist when the vehicle is rocked to settle the suspension. Only tighten nut (3) in the ready-to-drive condition.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION
*BA33.20-P-1004-01S 
7 Pull bolt (1) out of rubber mount (2) and remove torque strut (8) from front axle carrier    
INSPECT Checking     
8 Check rubber boots on rubber mount (2) for damage IMPORTANT The rubber boots should be retrofitted to protect the rubber mounts (2).
IMPORTANT If necessary, replace or retrofit rubber boots:

Remove/install rubber boots on rubber mount.
 
9 Check rubber mount () of torque strut (for signs of damage If rubber mount (2) is damaged:

Replace rubber mount (2) of strut rod (8).

10 Check rubber boot of ball joint of torque strut (8) for damage IMPORTANT The torque strut (8) must be replaced if the rubber boot is damaged.  
11 Cut cable ties (4) and remove cover (9) from strut rod (8) IMPORTANT When replacing the strut rod (8).  
12 Install in the reverse order
