REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove engine with front axle carrier   AR01.10-P-2500RKC
2 Mount engine onto assembly stand    
3 Remove air filter housing on the left or right ENGINE 279 in MODEL 231
with CODE 460 (Canada version)
with CODE 494 (US version)		 AR09.10-P-1150MUC 
    ENGINE 279 in MODEL 231
without CODE 460 (Canada version)
without CODE 494 (US version)		 AR09.10-P-1150RKC 
4 Remove charge air cooler on the left or right   AR09.41-P-6817RKC 
5 Remove charge air pipe on the left or right   AR09.41-P-8620RKC 
6 Remove air pump When removing the right ATL (3) AR14.30-P-7251RKC
7 Remove screw/bolts (22, 23) at oil dipstick guide tube (1) When removing the right ATL (3)  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, guide tube to alternator carrier *BA01.45-P-1004-01I 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, guide tube to front cover *BA01.45-P-1005-01I 
8 Remove screw/bolts (4, 5) and take off support brace (2) When removing the right ATL (3)  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, turbocharger support brace to crankcase *BA09.40-P-1009-01V 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, support for turbocharger to turbocharger *BA09.40-P-1008-01V 
9 Remove screw/bolts (26, 27) and take off support brace (25) When removing the left ATL (24)  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, support for turbocharger to turbocharger *BA09.40-P-1008-01V 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, turbocharger support brace to crankcase *BA09.40-P-1009-01V 
10 Remove engine support on the left or right   AR22.10-P-1260RKC
  TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, engine support to crankcase *BA22.10-P-1001-02A 
11 Remove screw/bolts (36, 56) and remove oil line (17) When removing the left ATL (24) AR18.30-P-6850RKC
12 Remove screw/bolts (16, 20) and remove oil line (21) When removing the right ATL (3) AR18.30-P-6850RKC
13 Remove screw/bolts (29, 30, 31) and remove coolant return line (28) When removing the left ATL (24) AR20.20-P-7440RKC
14 Remove screw/bolts (7, 8) and remove coolant return line (6) When removing the right ATL (3) AR20.20-P-7440RKC
15 Remove screw/bolts (31, 32, 34) and remove oil return line (33) When removing the left ATL (24) AR18.30-P-6850RKC
16 Remove screw/bolts (7, 10, 11) and remove oil return line (9) When removing the right ATL (3) AR18.30-P-6850RKC
17 Remove screw/bolts (38, 39, 40, 41, 42) and unfasten coolant line (37) on the left or right TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, coolant pipe to cylinder head cover/cylinder head/heat shield *BA20.10-P-1009-01H 
18 Remove heat shields (43, 44) on the left or right    
19 Remove screw/bolts (18, 36) and remove coolant return line (35) When removing the left ATL (24)
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, oil feed and coolant line pipe to turbocharger		 *BA09.40-P-1004-01V 
20 Remove screw/bolts (16, 18) and remove coolant return line (19) When removing the right ATL (3)
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, oil feed and coolant line pipe to turbocharger		 *BA09.40-P-1004-01V 
21 Remove screw/bolt (46) and place refrigerant line (45) to one side When removing the left ATL (24)
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, refrigerant line to A/C compressor		 *BA83.55-P-1002-01ZA 
22 Undo screw/bolt (48) and remove bracket (47) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, bracket for vacuum line to turbocharger *BA09.40-P-1010-01V 
23 Detach vacuum lines (49) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check vacuum lines (49) and hose clamps for good condition; replace if necessary.  
24 Remove screw/bolts (51, 52, 53) and remove bracket (50) When removing the left ATL (24)  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, bracket and hydraulic pump to timing case *BA32.00-P-1011-01B 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, support for hydraulic pump to intermediate housing for oil lines/carrier for hydraulic pump *BA32.00-P-1012-01B 
25 Mount assembly tool (54) on left ATL (24) or on right ATL (3) NOTES
The ATL (3, 24) and exhaust manifold are a unit and must not be disassembled.
Leaks can occur otherwise.

26 Unscrew nuts (55) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Observe tightening pattern. AR09.40-P-6020-11MC
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, turbocharger/exhaust manifold to cylinder head *BA09.40-P-1001-01V 
    SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 7
27 Remove right ATL (3) or left ATL (24) with exhaust manifold INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace seal.  
28 Install in the reverse order
