| 1 | Switch off all electrical consumers and the ignition | All electrical consumers must be switched off. Otherwise, they may be damaged when the ground line (1) is disconnected/connected. |

| 3 | Unscrew nuts (2, 3) | ||
| 4 | Tilt upper part of rear fuse and relay module (K40/5) to the back and lower part to the front and with a swivel movement upward, guide it out of the support (arrow) on the battery box for additional battery (4) | Guide rear fuse and relay module (K40/5) carefully out of the support (arrow). Otherwise the catch hook that locks the housing of the rear fuse and relay module (K40/5) in the support (arrow) may break. |

| 5 | Detach vent hose (5) from elbow fitting (6) | Check that vent hose (5) is seated and routed correctly. Battery acid vapors emitted will otherwise damage surrounding components. |

| 6 | Unlock shackle (7) by pulling it up and push battery box for additional battery (4) back and out of the battery box support (8) far enough to be able to remove the cover of the battery box (9) | ||

| 9 | Using a diode test lamp, check on-board electrical system for voltage between positive line (11) of ECO start/stop function additional battery (G1/13) and a suitable ground point | Cover up positive line (11). Otherwise a short circuit may occur. If the diode test lamp lights up, the on-board electrical system is still active because of a defect in the electrical system: ↓ Disconnect battery ground line |
