Use the following special tools: press out/in tool and extraction and insertion tool (02).

Press out/in tool includes: sleeve (01) (220 589 06 43 08).

Press out elastomer bearing (1b)

1. Place sleeve (01) on press.
2. Place strut rod (1a) on sleeve (01) with chamfered side facing upward.
3. Place extraction and insertion tool (02) on strut rod (1a).
4. Pre-tension press and align strut rod (1a), sleeve (01) and extraction and insertion tool (02) with each other.
5. Press out elastomer bearing (1b).

Press in elastomer bearing (1b) 

6. Place sleeve (01) on press.
7. Place strut rod (1a) on sleeve (01) with chamfered side facing upward.
8. Position new elastomer bearing (1b) with crush ring (1c) on strut rod (1a).

MODEL 222 without CODE M005 (4MATIC)

The marking (M) on the new elastomer bearing (1b) must line up with the bar (S) on the strut rod (1a). Position the new elastomer bearing (1b) according to the caster correction (picture A, B).

The marking (M) and the groove on new elastomer bearing (1b) must always point to the steering axis. Position the new elastomer bearing (1b) according to the caster correction (picture A, B).

9. Place extraction and insertion tool (02) on new elastomer bearing (1b).
10. Pre-tension press and align strut rod (1a), sleeve (01), new elastomer bearing (1b) and extraction and insertion tool (02) with each other.
11. Press in new elastomer bearing (1b) until crush ring (1c) can be turned.
12. Release press and remove crush ring (1c).
13. Turn over strut rod (1a) and place on sleeve (01).
14. Place extraction and insertion tool (02) on new elastomer bearing (1b).
15. Press new elastomer bearing (1b) into center in strut rod (1a).
