Remove/install low-temperature circuit expansion reservoir - AR09.41-P-0001LFA

ENGINE 276.8 in MODEL 217, 222 

MODIFICATION NOTES

17.11.15 Pull out low-temperature circuit expansion reservoir (4) upwards from the carrier (5). Operation step 8 modified

DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Switch off ignition    
2 Remove upper engine cover    
3 Remove right engine air intake duct    
4 Slowly open cap (1) on low-temperature circuit expansion reservoir (4) and remove it IMPORTANT The coolant temperature should be approx. 40°C.  
5 Suction coolant out of low-temperature circuit expansion reservoir (4) SPECIAL TOOL Hand pump Fig 3
6 Detach coolant hose (2) from low-temperature circuit expansion reservoir (4) IMPORTANT Collect brake fluid in a suitable container.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace O-ring.
 
7 Detach coolant hose (3) from low-temperature circuit expansion reservoir (4) SPECIAL TOOL Hose clamp pliers Fig 2
8 Pull out low-temperature circuit expansion reservoir (4) upwards from the carrier (5)    
9 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Check     
10 Check coolant level and correct if necessary   AR20.00-P-1142LF
11 Check cooling system for leaktightness IMPORTANT Unscrew tester cap on low-temperature circuit expansion reservoir (4). AR20.00-P-1010LF
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
12 Carry out engine test run and check the cooling system for proper operation and for leaktightness
