	General information on work on gasoline direct injection system		AH07.00-P-2000-01A
	Remove/install
1	Detach ground line from battery		AR54.10-P-0003LF
2	Drain coolant at radiator		AR20.00-P-1142LF
3	Remove ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10)		AR07.08-P-7008LFB
4	Remove both air filter housings		AR09.10-P-1150LFB
5	Detach soundproofing (2, 3) over the rail
6	Remove crash plate on high-pressure pumps and remove soundproofing (5) on high-pressure pumps
7	Detach vacuum line (8) for brake booster on vacuum pump and charge air distributor (1)
8	Detach vacuum line (7) for centrifuge on charge air distributor (1)
9	Disconnect Electrical connection on ABC hydraulic pump	Vehicles with code (487) Active Body Control (ABC)
10	Disconnect electrical connection at boost pressure control pressure transducer (Y77/1)
11	Disconnect electrical connection at charge air temperature sensor (B17/8)
12	Disconnect or detach engine wiring harness on charge air distributor (1) and cylinder head covers and fasten outside the working area		AR01.00-P-2410-02LFB
13	Relieve fuel pressure over diagnostic socket		AR07.03-P-1460-01VA
14	Relieve fuel pressure and remove high-pressure lines	Do not kink or bend high-pressure lines. Leaks and damage can occur otherwise. The sealing cone for high-pressure lines must be checked before assembly. The work instructions absolutely must be observed for assembly work. A leak test on the fuel high-pressure circuit must be carried out after assembly. ↓	AR07.03-P-1460-02MM

15	Disconnect electrical line (4) on charge air distributor (1)
16	Detach purge line (10) on charge air distributor (1)
17	Detach vacuum line (6) at vacuum pump and charge air distributor (1)
18	Detach coolant expansion reservoir (32) with bracket on charge air distributor (1) and place to one side
19	Detach boost pressure control pressure transducer (Y77/1) with bracket on charge air distributor (1) and lay down to the front	Bolt, pressure transducer holder to charge air distribution line	*BA09.41-P-1010-01O
20	Remove charge air pipe		AR09.41-P-8620LFB
21	Disconnect bleed line (20) for charge air cooler (33) at connecting point
22	Detach bracket for coolant vent line (20) on carrier for ABC hydraulic pump or guide pulley
23	Remove poly-V belt		AR13.20-P-0001LFB

25	Detach coolant return line (21) on oil filter housing
26	Detach coolant return line (21) on coolant hose (22)
27	Detach coolant return line (23) on timing case cover	Bolt, coolant line to timing case cover/oil filter housing	*BA09.41-P-1006-01O
28	Detach coolant feed line (34) on coolant hose (27)
29	Detach coolant feed line (24) on timing case cover	Bolt, feed line to timing case cover	*BA09.41-P-1005-01O
30	Remove screw/bolts (30) from charge air distributor (1) at cylinder heads	Bolt, charge air distribution line to cylinder head	*BA09.41-P-1011-01O
31	Raise charge air distributor (1)
32	Disconnect electrical line (9) on front knock sensors
33	Unclip electrical line (9) for front knock sensors on charge air distributor (1)
34	Remove charge air distributor (1) upwards	Replace seals between charge air distributor (1) and cylinder heads.
35	Detach detachable parts from charge air distributor (1)	For replacing charge air distributor (1) To do this remove screw/bolts (31) for charge air cooler (33) on charge air distributor (1) and loosen clamp on throttle valve actuator. Bolt, charge air cooler to charge air distribution line	*BA09.41-P-1001-01O
36	Install in the reverse order
37	Check engine cooling system for leaktightness		AR20.00-P-1010LF
38	Read out fault memory using the diagnostic system and clear if necessary

	Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
39	Carry out an engine test run and check leaktightness from intake air system and fuel system
