DANGER Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts. Deburr repair panels. AS00.00-Z-0017-01A
DANGER Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A

REMOVING Remove     
1 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m)    
2 Remove rear center and middle lower engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105LF
3 Unclip electrical line (2) from the bracket (3)    
4 Unclip electrical connection (5) from the bracket (4)    
5 Release and disconnect electrical connection (5)    
6 Remove left oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter (1) SPECIAL TOOL Box wrench bit Figure
7 Cover sensor tip of the left oxygen sensor downstream of CAT (1) with protective cover For reuse of the left oxygen sensor downstream of CAT (1).

INSTALLING Install     
8 Remove protective cover from sensor tip of the left oxygen sensor upstream CAT (1) For reuse of the left oxygen sensor downstream of CAT (1).

9 Coat thread of the left oxygen sensor upstream of catalytic converter (1) with heat-resistant lubricant For reuse of the left oxygen sensor downstream of CAT (1).
Paste, hot lubrication 1 kg, DBL 6879.20

10 Remove screw plug from threaded hole of the left oxygen sensor downstream of CAT (1) IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools  Oxygen sensor screw plug threaded hole M18x1.5 mm  
11 Screw in left oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter (1)    
IMPORTANT Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths   AH00.00-P-0015-01CW
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Oxygen sensor to catalytic converter *BA14.00-P-1002-01A 
    SPECIAL TOOL Box wrench bit Figure
12 Clip electrical line (2) into the holder (3)    
13 Plug together electrical connection (5) until it locks    
14 Clip electrical connection (5) into the holder (4)    
INSPECT Check     
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
15 Carry out an engine test run and check exhaust system for leaktightness    
16 Install lower rear and center engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105LF

REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS
Read out fault memory using the diagnostic system and clear if necessary   AD00.00-P-2000-04B
