	Risk of injury  caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte or due to short circuit. Risk of burn injuries  due to thermal changes. In the event of escaping battery electrolyte, battery vapors, battery mist, smoke or heat development, secure the area, leave it and alert the fire department. 	Remove/install
1	Switch off all electrical consumers	All electrical consumers must be switched off. Otherwise, electrical consumers may be damaged when disconnecting/connecting the ground line (1).
2	Switch off ignition and keep transmitter key outside transmitter range (at least 2 m)
3	Unlock engine hood	Model 222 (except 222.07/17/97) with code ME04 (Mild hybrid drive) Due to the open engine hood contact switches, the pre-entry climate control is deactivated thereby ensuring that current cannot flow in the 12-V on-board electrical system.

9	Release and disconnect electrical connection (3) from battery sensor (4)
10	Expose ground line (1) and remove with battery sensor (4)	The ground line (1) and battery sensor (4) can only be replaced together. Replace cable tie or cable ties.
11	Install in the reverse order
