NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key    
2 Remove appropriate cover on traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3)    
3 Unscrew nuts (1) and detach retaining clip (2) from strut on left front wheel well    
4 Unclip electrical line from engine fuse and relay module (K40/8) and place engine fuse and relay module (K40/8) to one side    
CLEAN Clean     
5 Clean area around electrical connector (3) and Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) NOTES
Before opening the brake system the area around the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Only use clean, lint free rags and cleaner free of mineral oil. Do not use any compressed-air for cleaning when the brake system is open.
Even the smallest particles of dirt, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the brake system.
Assembly cleaner

6 Disconnect electrical connector (3) from Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) NOTES
The work instructions for disconnecting the electrical connector (3) must be followed. Otherwise damage can be caused to the locking mechanism.
NOTES
Do not touch, deform or damage contacts of electrical connection (3) and of jack on Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4). Do not allow any foreign objects, dirt or fluids to enter the jack or the electrical connection (3).
The Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) can otherwise be damaged and malfunction.

7 Unscrew bolts (4) and remove Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace screws/bolts (4).
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, ESP control unit® to traction system hydraulic unit

CLEAN Clean     
8 Clean sealing surface on traction system hydraulic unit (A73) Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
9 Install in the reverse order    
10 Conduct initial startup of Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) When replacing Electronic Stability Program control unit (N304)  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
