DANGER Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Switch off ignition and remove transmitter key    
2 Remove left front wheel well strut (1)   AR82.30-P-6400LF
3 Unscrew nuts (2), detach engine fuse and relay module (K40/8) and place to one side    
CLEAN Clean     
4 Clean traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) around connections of brake lines (4) NOTES
Before the hydraulic system is opened, the area around the connections must be cleaned thoroughly.
Otherwise minute particles of dirt in the hydraulic components can result in malfunctions and total failure of the hydraulic system.
IMPORTANT Only use clean, lint free rags and cleaner free of mineral oil. Do not use any compressed- air for cleaning when the brake system is open.

5 Clean area surrounding cap of hydraulic fluid reservoir for brake fluid (7) MODEL 222.004/057/104/157

6 Disconnect electrical connector (3) from Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) NOTES
The work instructions for disconnecting the electrical connector (3) must be followed. Otherwise damage can be caused to the locking mechanism.
NOTES
Do not touch, deform or damage contacts of electrical connection (3) and of jack on Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4). Do not allow any foreign objects, dirt or fluids to enter the jack or the electrical connection (3).
Otherwise the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) may be damaged or may malfunction.

7 Unscrew cap of hydraulic fluid reservoir for brake fluid (7) and extract brake fluid MODEL 222.004/057/104/157  
8 Detach feed hose (6) from hydraulic fluid reservoir for brake fluid (7) MODEL 222.004/057/104/157
NOTES
Protect painted surfaces from brake fluid. Otherwise damage can occur to the vehicle paint.

9 Mark brake lines (4) relative to corresponding connection on traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3)    
10 Detach brake lines (4) from traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) NOTES
Seal the brake lines (4) and connections on the traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3).
Otherwise the traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) may be damaged by the entry of foreign objects.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Route the brake lines (4) such that they are free of tension and do not chafe against adjacent parts.

11 Unscrew bolts (5) and remove traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3)    
12 Install in the reverse order    
13 Bleed brake system   AR42.10-P-0010LF 
14 Read out and erase fault memory
