	Preparation
1	Print out checklist for transport safety of 12 V lithium-ion battery	Model 222.07/177/178/179	OF54.10-P-3000-13A
	Remove/install
2	Switch off ignition and take transmitter key out of reception range	All electrical consumers must be switched off. They may otherwise be damaged when the ground line (1) is disconnected/connected.
3	Unlock engine hood	Due to the open engine hood contact switches, the pre-conditioning is deactivated and it is thus ensured that no currents can flow in the 12-V on-board electrical system.
4	Remove front trunk trim (2)		AR68.30-P-4600LF
5	Unscrew nut (3) and disconnect ground line (1) from negative terminal of on-board electrical system battery (G1)	Nut, charging cable to negative terminal/positive terminal of on-board electrical system battery	*BA54.10-P-1003-01J
6	Using a diode test lamp, check the on-board electrical system for voltage between the positive line (10) of the on-board electrical system battery (G1) and the disconnected ground line (1)	If the diode test lamp lights up, it indicates that the on-board electrical system battery is still active: ↓ Disconnect ground line of ECO start/stop function additional battery
		Model 222 (except 222.07/17) with code ME04 (Mild hybrid drive) except code Z07 (Top protection) Cover up the positive line (10). There is a risk of short circuit otherwise. If the diode test lamp lights up, the on-board electrical system battery must be checked after the work is completed.	AR54.10-P-0007LF
7	Disconnect electrical connector (4) from battery sensor (B95)	Place electrical line (5) to one side. Otherwise it can be damaged when removing the on-board electrical system battery (G1).
8	Remove positive terminal cover (8)
9	Disconnect electrical connection (6) from pyrotechnical separator (K88)	Place electrical line (7) to one side. Otherwise it can be damaged when removing the on-board electrical system battery (G1).
10	Unscrew nut (9) and disconnect positive line (10) at positive terminal of the on-board electrical system battery (G1)	Nut, charging cable to negative terminal/positive terminal of on-board electrical system battery	*BA54.10-P-1003-01J
11	Detach vent hose (11) from elbow fitting (12)	Check vent hose (11) is seated and routed correctly. Battery acid vapors emitted will otherwise damage surrounding components.
12	Unscrew nut (13)	Nut, tensioning strap to battery frame	*BA54.10-P-1002-01J
13	Take tab (14) off threaded pin (15) and place to one side	Do not install tensioning strap (16) twisted.
14	Take on-board electrical system battery (G1) out of battery carrier (17) and then out of the trunk	Carefully remove on-board electrical system battery (G1) from the battery carrier (17). The threaded pin (15) may otherwise damage the on-board electrical system battery (G1).
15	Install in the reverse order
