Washer nozzle/washer nozzle hose heater, function - GF82.35-P-3003CE

MODEL 204.0/2 with CODE (875) Heated windshield washer system as of model year 2009/YoM 08

MODEL 204.3 with CODE (875) Heated windshield washer system

Function requirements, general

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) transmits the circuit 15 status to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) over the interior CAN (CAN B).

The CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine) sends the "Engine running" or "Drivetrain ready" signal via chassis CAN (CAN E) to front SAM control unit.

Washer nozzle/washer nozzle hose heater, general

The spray nozzle heater (R2/1) and the spray nozzle hose heater (R2/11) prevent the washer fluid from freezing in the washer nozzles and in the washer nozzle hose.

Function sequence for washer nozzle/washer nozzle hose heater

The front SAM control unit switches on the spray nozzle heater and the spray nozzle hose heater with the engine running and an outside temperature of T < 5 °C.

To do so, the front SAM control unit reads in the signals of the outside temperature sensor (B14) directly, calculates the outside temperature and sends this via interior CAN to the instrument cluster (A1).

The instrument cluster calculates the outside temperature to be displayed, taking the vehicle speed and the heat given off by the engine into consideration, and sends this via interior CAN to the front SAM control unit.

The front SAM control unit evaluates all relevant information and actuates the spray nozzle heater and the spray nozzle hose heater accordingly.

If the outside temperature rises to T > 8 °C, the spray nozzle heater and the spray nozzle hose heater are switched off by the front SAM control unit.

IMPORTANT If the front SAM control unit cannot receive an outside temperature value from the instrument cluster, it uses the outside temperature it calculates itself.
