For the TV reception, the digital TV tuner performs the following tasks:
- Receive signals
- Demodulating and decoding signals
- Transmit signals
Receive signals
- Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
- Direct lines
Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
The TV digital tuner is a subscriber of MOST and communicates with the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
Direct lines
- Power supply via terminal 31 and terminal 30
- Electronic wake-up for MOST
- FM 2, DAB and TV 1 antenna amplifier (A94/1), with code (537) Digital radio via the TV antenna splitter (A2/89)
- TV 2 antenna amplifier (A94/2)
- TV 3 antenna amplifier (A94/3)
Demodulating and decoding signals
The TV signals are evaluated internally and separated into video and audio signals.
Transmit signals
- MOST
- Direct lines
MOST
The TV digital tuner is a subscriber of MOST and communicates with the COMAND controller unit.
Direct lines
- Phantom power supply to following antenna amplifiers:
- FM 2, DAB and TV 1 antenna amplifier, with code (537) Digital radio via the TV antenna splitter
- TV 2 and KEYLESS-GO antenna amplifier
- TV 3 antenna amplifier
- Transmission of video signals via a Y-brightness (luminance)/C-color information (chrominance) (Y/C) line to the COMAND controller unit
Design
With code (498) Japan version, the digital TV tuner is delivered with a "B-CAS card". The "B-CAS card" is designed as a subscriber identification module (SIM) card and inserted in the SIM card reader. The SIM card reader does not have a cover.
