Remove/install gas-operated strut on engine hood - AR88.40-P-3010GQ

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  from fingers being pinched or jammed when working on gas struts under pressure Only remove and install pneumatic springs when they are not under tension and when the components are properly secured. AS00.00-Z-0012-01A
1 Open engine hood and move to vertical position   AR88.40-P-1000GQ 
2 Lift upper retainer (2) and lower retainer (2) with suitable screwdriver (3) and unclip gas pressure strut (1) from mounts NOTES Do not remove retainers (2).
Otherwise tension is lost.
IMPORTANT Do not remove both gas-filled struts (1) simultaneously. If, however, both gas pressure struts (1) are removed simultaneously, secure engine hood against falling down.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Clip gas pressure strut (1) into mounts with retainers (2) installed.
IMPORTANT When replacing gas_filled struts (1) dispose of old part.
 
3 Install in the reverse order
